My interest in Arabic and the Arabic language inspired me to create something with this blog that was meaningful, personal and deep. {I guess these three can go hand in hand and I feel that I am trying to put a sense of personal and quality content out there in the world of blogging.}
The word samaka سمك came to me, and something about a fish gives me a sense of interest, somewhat intrigue but also forces me to have courage. I've never been a fish person really, and stayed away from this mysterious sea creature. 'My fish' goes into a symbolic or metaphorical kind of sense of owning this 'thing' that was unknowing, hard, personal, and even beautiful all at the same time. My fish, or samakti (samakate in long form) سمكتي represents me coming to terms with things that were scary, or challenging, confusing and uncertain. The fish was something that was always like that for me, but slowly I've had to gravitate towards this and become more and more comfortable and vulnerable as well as trusting.
Having in my hands, a slippery, cold, unpredictable fish can also turn into a lively, warm, colorful fish with many flavors and shades. I hope samakti is a place where both of these kinds of fish in my hands coincide, live and thrive and I can own and posses the power and mystery of both.
I really enjoyed reading this post!!! Great insights, and a means for continued personal growth and reflection.
